We are looking for a Rail Systems Deployment and Maintenance Specialist to join our client on a permanent basis! Details are below:
Role: Rail Systems Deployment and Maintenance Specialist
Start Date: April 2026
Style: Permanent
Location: Oxfordshire, UK
Salary: £32,000 – £42,000 + package
We are looking for someone who has the below requirements:

Practical experience working with electronic equipment, instrumentation, or technical systems.

Competence in device communications, including RS232/RS422 serial debugging and Windows network configuration/troubleshooting.

Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding abilities.
-
Attention to detail with a methodical approach to testing and documentation.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Customer-facing experience and a professional demeanour.
-
Comfortable with domestic and international travel.
Desirable:
-
Experience with survey equipment, sensors, or data acquisition systems.
-
Understanding of acceptance testing procedures (FAT/SAT).
-
Background in electronics, engineering, instrumentation, or related technical discipline.
-
Experience with equipment installation or field service engineering.
-
Rail industry experience or awareness.
-
Project coordination or logistics experience.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Preparation and Testing
-
Ensure all survey and data capture equipment meets specifications and is fully optimised.
-
Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and document results, correcting issues as needed.
-
Calibrate and configure equipment according to project specifications.
-
Maintain testing records and equipment performance logs.
Installation and Commissioning
-
Plan and execute deployment activities in collaboration with the RASC Data Capture Manager and other team leaders.
-
Support mobilisation of survey equipment, including installation on rail platforms or survey vehicles.
-
Conduct Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and document outcomes.
-
Perform on-site system integration and commissioning activities.
Customer Liaison and Field Support

Communicate with clients during installation and commissioning, providing updates and responding to queries.
-
Provide on-site technical support to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.
-
Deliver basic equipment operation training to client personnel as required.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
-
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment faults using systematic fault-finding methods.
-
Coordinate repairs with suppliers and internal technical teams.
-
Maintain equipment inventory and system configuration records.
-
Support demobilisation of survey equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Technical Development and Knowledge Sharing
-
Create and maintain reference materials covering data capture systems and methods.
-
Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and test protocols.
-
Mentor junior technical staff and participate in internal training sessions and workshops.
-
Identify opportunities for personal development and involvement in R&D activities.
