We are looking for Geophysical Technician to join our client in the Geophysical industry on a permanent basis! Details are below:
Role: Geophysical Technician
Start Date: March, 2026
Style: Permanent, onsite
Location: Oxfordshire, UK
Salary: £25,000 – £32,000 + package (experience dependant)
- Strong interest in technology and practical aptitude for operating technical equipment
- Physical fitness for site work, including lifting and carrying equipment (up to 25kg), walking long distances, and working on uneven terrain
- Ability to work away from home for extended periods (several weeks at a time)
- Attention to detail and commitment to collecting high-quality data
- Problem-solving skills and ability to communicate issues effectively
- Excellent teamwork skills, including taking direction and supporting colleagues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, contractors, and team members
- Full manual driving licence
This role:
As a Geophysical Technician, you will be instrumental in the data collection phase of projects, supporting senior geophysicists and ensuring field operations run safely and efficiently. Key duties include:
- Data Collection: Operate a variety of geophysical equipment, including electromagnetics, magnetics, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), radio frequency location, seismics, and electrical resistivity instrumentation. Collect high-quality data in all weather conditions.
- Equipment Management: Prepare, transport, maintain, and troubleshoot geophysical equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Field Problem-Solving: Identify and report technical or logistical issues in the field, collaborating with the team to implement solutions quickly and effectively.
- Site Operations: Work at a range of locations, from urban and industrial sites to remote rural or coastal areas. Flexibility to be away from home for extended periods, including occasional international travel, is required.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with field teams, taking guidance from senior geophysicists while contributing observations and insights. Support colleagues to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
- Client Interaction: Represent the project professionally when interacting with clients, contractors, and stakeholders on site. Clearly communicate field activities and site requirements.
- Health & Safety: Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Maintain awareness of site hazards and work safely at all times.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct field quality checks on data, ensuring that collection meets project specifications and high industry standards.
