Lay Technician -

Offshore MPA support and supply the highest quality workforce for both the onshore and offshore operations of the renewables, oil & gas, telecommunications and marine industries.

We are currently looking for an experienced Lay Technicians; 

Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Long-Term
Location: EU

Responsibilities:
– Cable Handling and Installation: Operate and monitor cable lay equipment such as tensioners, carousels, and linear cable engines
– Assist in the loading, spooling, and deployment of subsea cables according to project specifications.
– Support burial operations using ploughs, jetting tools, or ROVs.
– Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on cable lay systems and associated machinery. Report faults or irregularities and assist in troubleshooting mechanical or hydraulic issues.
– Operational Support: Work closely with the deck crew, field engineers, and offshore supervisors to ensure smooth execution of cable operations. Follow instructions during critical operations such as cable jointing, cut and recovery, and touchdown monitoring.
– Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all offshore safety protocols and participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments
– Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of heavy equipment and cables.
– Coordination and Communication: Collaborating with the vessel crew, engineers to ensure efficient operations.
– Documentation and Reporting: Keeping detailed records of cable laying activities, including progress, issues, and resolutions. Preparing reports on the status of cable installation and any deviations from the plan

Experience and Qualifications:
– General offshore cable installation.
– Carousel, tensioner, winch & lifting operation and maintenance.
– Permit to work & Risk assessment.
– Knowledge of Survey & ROV works.
– Knowledge of Beach pull / Float in works / Transpooling of cable / Vessel DP operations.
