Systems Engineer -

Offshore OMPA support and supply the highest quality workforce for both the onshore and offshore operations of the renewables, oil & gas, telecommunications and marine industries.

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our client on a permanent OR contract basis! Details are below:

Role: Systems Engineer
Start Date: April, 2026
Style: Permanent OR Contract
Location: Plymouth, UK
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 + package (experience dependent)

We are looking for someone who has the below requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer covering the full development lifecycle
  • Strong requirements analysis and management skills
  • Experience in architectural design and system decomposition
  • Awareness of internal (board-to-board or processor-to-peripheral) and external (unit-to-unit/network) data bus standards
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, procedures, and executing test programmes
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or similar
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as SVN, Git, or Teamwork Cloud
  • Exposure to industrial, automotive, or aerospace standards (e.g., IEC61508, ISO26262, DO-178C, DO-254)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers and key stakeholders to understand and capture system-level use cases, concept of operations, and requirements
  • Develop and own system architecture
  • Interface with Systems, Software, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering stakeholders
  • Develop requirement specifications for each component of the system
  • Support system integration for real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces
  • Ensure requirement-to-requirement and requirements-to-test traceability throughout design
  • Develop test cases and procedures against requirements and execute tests
  • Apply logical and innovative problem-solving across software, hardware, and system levels
  • Provide inputs to project planning, estimations, and progress reporting
  • Contribute to development of complex embedded systems from concept through delivery
Skills & Experience
  • Experience with SysML tools such as Enterprise Architect (EA) or Cameo
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Experience in algorithm development and specification
  • Data analysis and algorithm development experience, including MATLAB
Desirable
    • Experience in Control Systems Engineering
    • Experience with Kalman Filters and Integrated Navigation
    • Experience in Digital Signal Processing
    • Experience with platforms utilising inertial sensors and associated requirements
    • Hands-on experience with solid-state MEMS gyroscopes or accelerometers
    • Electrical or software design and development experience
    • Ability to use an emulator for on-chip debugging
    • Experience using COTS test equipment in a lab environment (oscilloscopes, bus analysers, etc.)
    • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing
    • Experience with auto-code generation using MATLAB
