Shallow Water Engineer -

Offshore MPA support and supply the highest quality workforce for both the onshore and offshore operations of the renewables, oil & gas, telecommunications and marine industries.

We are currently working with a client actively looking for a Shallow Water Engineer;

Start date: ASAP

Duration: Permanent – Full Time

Location:  UK

Scope:

• You will work as part of the Shallow Water Services team within the Installation department and within agreed management procedures.
• You will support sales activities and accompany a project from an agreed point in the proposal and solution design process, and manage and closely monitor the project throughout the planning, execution and closing stages and provide the organisation with technical engineering support throughout.
• There are considerable risks associated with the installation of subsea cable equipment; therefore the Management of Safety is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Shallow Water Services Manager to develop the winning technical, commercial and financial solutions throughout bid progresses.
• Challenge convention and explore all avenues to minimise business risk and costs to meet customer expectations.
• Champion the SWS role internally.
• Prepare and execute interfacing plans & responsibility matrixes, ensuring all project SOW are complied with including the development and tracking of SWS aspects of the Risk Log.
• Support and undertake tasks designated by SWS Manager.
• Be the prime point of contact between the client and GMSL for SWS contracted projects.
• Manage contracted SWS projects according to established procedures; these may vary according to the nature of the project.
• Responsible to ensure SWS project budget is maintained or reduced.
• Mentor and support an Assistant SWS Engineer or other personnel when required.
• Report on project performance internally (and externally), as required, at frequent and regular intervals, using dedicated Software.
• Point of contact for Maintenance customers via the Duty Mobile Phone (shared duty)

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Degree level or equivalent experience
• Be versatile with a Microsoft Office products including MS Project
• Proven experience working within a cross-functional environment.
• Knowledge of the marine engineering industry, encompassing telecoms, power, Oil and Gas and Offshore Renewables.
• Demonstrable skills of leading a multifaceted team.
• Strong financial and commercial awareness.
• Flexibility to travel as required
• Excellent ability to motivate a virtual matrix project team.
• A willingness and thirst to drive through new ways of working.
• Results-orientated individual with a desire to improve performance.
• Appreciation of offshore cable
• Experience in shallow water cable installation
• Able to work under considerable pressure.
• Able to prioritise
• Budgeting & forecasting skills
• Able to generate professional relationships with customer representatives.
