Offshore Marine People and Academy is actively recruiting for a Marine Warranty Surveyor with a focus on insurance and underwriting, to become a valuable addition to a team of dedicated consultants on an ongoing basis.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Marine Warranty Surveyor with expertise in subsea cables to join the dynamic team. The ideal candidate will focus on collaborating with insurance companies to mitigate risks associated with subsea cable projects, including Offshore Wind Farms, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. As a Marine Warranty Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in minimising potential liabilities and ensuring the safe and successful operation of subsea cable systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Insurance Assessment: Assess and evaluate subsea cable project plans, installations, and operations to determine their insurability and risk profiles.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure that subsea cable projects comply with insurance policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to reduce or eliminate them, safeguarding the interests of insurance companies.
  • Inspection and Documentation: Conduct on-site inspections, document findings, and provide comprehensive reports to insurance underwriters and clients.
  • Claims Support: Assist with claims management, including investigation, documentation, and resolution of subsea cable incidents or accidents.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance companies, clients, and other stakeholders, providing expert guidance on subsea cable warranty matters.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay current with subsea cable industry regulations and standards and ensure that clients’ projects adhere to them.

Qualifications / Experience

  • SOMWS membership or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Marine Engineering, Subsea Engineering, or a related discipline) – Professional certifications (e.g., CMWS, CWI, or similar)
  • In-depth knowledge of subsea cable installations, marine operations, maritime regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred but not essential.

  • Proven experience working with insurance companies and underwriters.
  • Experience contributing to tendering process.
  • Awareness of Joint Natural Resources Committee.
