We are actively looking for a Lead Project Engineer!
Start – ASAP
Location – Delft Office and optionally project site (offshore).
Duration – Fixed Term Contract
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the entire engineering lifecycle for subsea cable operations, guiding engineering teams while ensuring all work meets industry standards, client expectations, and safety protocols. As the Lead Project Engineer, you’ll act as a key technical authority, working closely with both internal teams and external partners to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Engineering Leadership: Leading engineering scopes of work related to offshore cable installation, from feasibility and design to execution and close-out.
- Design Oversight: Overseeing and reviewing engineering deliverables including route planning, burial assessments, cable protection strategies, and installation methodologies.
- Technical Interface: Acting as the primary technical liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams, ensuring all technical aspects are aligned.
- Installation Preparation: Supervising preparations for offshore campaigns including cable lay procedures, load-outs, deck layouts, vessel readiness, and interface checks.
- Team Coordination: Mentoring and supervising project engineers, coordinate cross-discipline inputs, and ensure high-quality outputs in all project phases.
- Offshore Supervision: Having the opportunity to participate in offshore campaigns when necessary to support execution, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
- HSE Leadership: Implementing health, safety, and environmental excellence throughout project planning and offshore operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
- Risk Management: Identifying technical risks early in the project lifecycle and developing mitigation strategies in collaboration with project management.
- Continuous Improvement: Contributing to innovation and optimization in offshore cable engineering, installation methods, and project delivery processes.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in offshore cable installation, including project engineering and offshore campaign involvement.
- Proven track record in leading engineering teams in the offshore energy sector.
- In-depth understanding of offshore installation equipment, vessel operations, and cable protection systems.
- Proficiency with engineering tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Orcaflex, GIS systems, etc.).
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
- Experience with industry standards (e.g., DNV, ISO, IEC) and regulatory requirements related to subsea cable systems.
- Willingness to work offshore and travel as required by project needs.
- Ability to work and reside in the EU.
