Business Development Manager – Subsea Renewables - OPP230399

Offshore Marine People and Academy support and supply the highest quality workforce for both the onshore and offshore operations of the renewables, oil & gas, telecommunications, and marine industries. We are pleased to be partnered with market leaders in the subsea industry as they grow their team with a permanent Business Development Manager.

The client:

Our client is an independent provider of Electric Controlled Flow Excavation (E-CFE) brings to the market a new and differentiated all-electric CFE service which is leveraged from new, pro-environmental technology development, and underpinned by a sustainable business model. Their aim is to provide life cycle support to a range of energy-based projects from pre-construction, construction, inspection, repair & maintenance through to final decommissioning.

A business development manager will kick start the expansion of this project and benefit from someone with experience with tier-one offshore installation contractors and local marine service providers who operate across offshore renewables, O&G, and marine civils sectors.

The role:

As Business Development Manager, you will

  • Increase the client base whilst managing current and future client relationships to maximise opportunities across the organisation
  • Oversee the marketing to potential new clients, securing enquiries, business leads and commitments.
  • Contribute a key part towards commercialization of the company’s technology investment, and to support the market development through the adoption of a new standard

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively canvas for new clients
  • Worldwide and regular travel is a necessary requirement to fulfil the overall objective of the job – the job holder will be autonomous in the planning and execution of this
  • Assist with preparation of presentations for meetings and exhibitions and delivering those presentations to customers and prospects
  • Manage the accounts of existing clients and have an understanding of Key Account Management approach and processes
  • Provide leadership to plan, organise, manage and continuously improve the business development function
  • Support Senior Management Team in the development of the strategy and growth of the business
  • Supply weekly and monthly reports of activities within designated territories – contributing to company requirements for corporate level reporting on business development and market intelligence
  • Maintain a comprehensive contact/correspondence database – interface with company CRM
  • Complete all necessary paperwork in the sales reporting systems
  • Support the Tendering Team in the development and submission of proposals and tenders
  • Attend and set up exhibitions and other events; Represent the company at such events, occasionally take the opportunity to represent the company at conference/speaker opportunities

Your ideal skills & experience

  • A strong understanding or interest of seabed trenching, intervention systems, and/or underwater survey operations
  • Has a genuine sales approach with clients based on experience, knowledge and trusted for an integral delivery
  • Commercially astute with a high degree of attention to detail – can identify and manage risk/opportunity
  • An accomplished networker with the ability to build relationships at all levels within a client organization within the offshore renewables and O&G markets
  • A keen eye for business collaboration opportunity – understanding that business development is key to facilitating growth of the company in all areas and not limited to sales alone
  • Understands market entry and barriers towards, differences in global market requirements, and how these effect client needs
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a subsea contractor/services/technology company
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment. Must be an energetic self-starter with a passion for their work
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to support a confident presenter and sharp negotiator
  • Ability to complete accurate contact reports and deliver these on time
