GWO Sea Survival Training & Refresher

Individuals seeking a comprehensive overview of sea survival and emergency techniques in the marine environment
About this course
Designed to provide essential principles and techniques for survival at sea in an interactive session that promises to equip participants with the skills to complete a successful and safe evacuation and rescue.
Discover crucial safety equipment and survival tools and resources. Find out how to complete a safe transfer between vessels and installations, in compliance with international and national legislation. From dealing with hypothermia to managing a capsized life raft and sending a distress signal, participants learn all they need to know about survival at sea.
What experience / qualifications do I need to book a place?
You must be 18 or over.
There are no academic or technical pre-requisites for attendance on this course, but all candidates will be required to present the following:
- A current medical fit to work certificate
- Valid photographic ID such as a Passport or Driving License
What will I learn?
Legislation associated with sea survival in the UK
Exposure, hypothermia and drowning
Lifesaving appliances and PPE
The transfer process
Man over board
Sea survival techniques and man over board
What do I need to bring?
- Swimwear (towel, swimming costume etc.) On site changing rooms and showers will be provided
- Reading glasses if required for any theory work

GWO SEA SURVIVAL REFRESHER
The GWO BST/BSTR certificates must be renewed before the end of the validity period. If a certificate is expired, the Delegate will need to complete the full Basic Safety Training again.
A certificate can be renewed up to two months prior to expiry and maintain the original certification date. If a certificate is renewed more than two months before expiry it must carry the new date of certification
